Visas & Permits

Single entry visas are available on arrival at Kathmandu airport and all land borders. The visa is valid for 60 days and costs USD30 (USD cash). One photo is required. The visa may then be extended up to 90 days.

You may also obtain your visa prior to arrival from Nepalese embassies.

If you are staying in Nepal for 3 nights or less a transit visa can be issued free of charge. One photo required.

30 day entry visas are issued free of charge to anyone who has stayed in Nepal for at least 15 consecutive days in the current calendar year. One photo is required. These visas may be extended for up to a total of 150 days in a calendar year at a cost of USD30 per 30 days.

Visas are issued free to Chinese and South Asian passport holders (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives and Pakistan).
Indian nationals do not require a visa.

Trekking permits are required for many treks and will be obtained on your behalf by RMT when you arrive. A photocopy of the details page of your passport will need to be provided prior to your arrival in Nepal and you will need to bring 2 photographs with you.
